When I first saw Piggy Bank Parties’ new Lil’ Hoots Halloween Collection I was so excited! I just love the cute owl theme!! As a mom of 2 little ones (5 & 2), I know that Halloween decorations can be scary for them. Even the cutest witch or monster will send my 2 year old running! But these adorable owls were a big hit with them.
I also am a HUGE fan of Cake Stakes, also known as cupcake toppers or party circles. They are one of the most versatile party decorations out there. I’m going to show how I used the Cake Stakes from Piggy Bank Parties’ Lil’ Hoots Halloween Collection three different ways!
First, let’s talk cake! I’m very passionate about baking from scratch, but for this challenge I used a box mix and a can of frosting. I know that not everyone has a budget for a custom cake and not everyone has the time to make one either. In all honesty, if I didn’t make them, my kids wouldn’t get them! But I wanted to show you that even a simple homemade cake can be elevated to party FAB with a cute cake topper!
This banner topper was so easy to make! I just wrapped some ribbon around paper lollipop sticks, using glue dots to secure them, and strung together a few of the cake stakes with coordinating string. How adorable is that?
As long as we are talking sweets, how about some cookies as party favors? I was so inspired by the cute owls in the collection, that I couldn’t resist making some fondant toppers for cookies.
But even without the fondant toppers, any cookie would make an fun favor when given in a cute package!
I placed the cookies in a little bag, glued the cake stakes to some scrapbook paper, and used some ribbon to dress it up (and cover the staples used to seal the bag). Cute!
Finally, I don’t think a party is complete without some festive party hats! I LOVE LOVE party hats and I will be sharing a tutorial on how to make these on Sunday!! But just see how cute those Cake Stakes make the hats look!
I just showed you THREE ways to use Cake Stakes, but I really think that the uses for them are only limited by your imagination! I hope I inspired you to get creative with yours!!
