’twas the week before christmas
‘Twas the week before Christmas, when all through our workspace
Not all the creatures were stirring, just this lil’ piggy’s smilin’ face.
The stockings weren’t hung due to customer care,
But I knew St. Nicholas soon would be here.
The hubs was nestled all snug in our bed,
While visions of peanut butter blossoms danced in his head.
Still in my pajamas, but wearing my party hat,
Had just woken my brain from a short winter’s nap.
When out on Facebook there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the monitor I flew like a flash,
Tore open Internet Explorer and typed in my pass.
The sun beating down on the melted snow
Gave the lustre to posts on my monitor below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But the “2012 Dreamers into Doers Event” ticket contest, oh, dear.
With this little old Driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment I should make my mouse click.
More rapid than eagles my words they came,
And I whistled, and shouted, and called Martha by name!
“Now Dreamers! Now Doers! Yes, you! Jenny Dixon!
On, Cineca! And all those who are hopin’-n-wishin’!
To the top of the list! To the top of the Facebook wall!
Now type away! Type away! Send your emails away all!”
As quick as the seconds on the clock fly by,
Dreamin’ of New York, I let out a big sigh.
So next to the To-Do list my little thoughts flew,
With a slew of last minute requests, and another blog post to do.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard near the roof
The prancing and pawing of the hubs’ little hoofs.
As I listed the To-Dos in my head, and was turning around,
Down the stairs came the hubs with a leap and a bound.
He was dressed in rumpled pjs, from his head to his foot,
Seeing his smile made me glad he was now underfoot.
He asked me to scratch the small of his back,
Lil’ did he know that his work schedule today was completely packed.
His eyes—how they twinkle! His dimples, how merry!
His cheeks are all rosy, I’m so glad he’s my deary!
I batted my eyes and asked for a cup of hot cocoa,
And he gladly obliged because he’s a sweet fellow.
Now off to the shower and to brush my teeth,
‘Cuz this afternoon an event planner I must meet.
Then I’ll turn on Christmas music instead of the telly,
But first I should make breakfast—a lil’ toast with raspberry jelly!
Then on to the “list”, first I’m posting a party with an elf,
And I groan when I think of adding new Etsy listings myself!
So many new designs are filling my head,
I have to say farewell to the green and the red.
I should really stop writing, and get straight to my work,
‘Cuz working at home, is truly a perk.
The time has come to put on “real” clothes,
I think that I’m almost done with my prose!
This lil’ piggy sprang from her chair, and let out a whistle,
And away to the kitchen she flew like a missile.
But you’ll hear her exclaim, ‘ere she’s almost out of sight,
“Happy Christmas week to all, don’t get stressed or all uptight!”
