{silly sunday} burlap, doily and paper chains
It’s time for another edition of…
PAPER CHAINS
As part of my contribution to the Crew’s Collaboration for Valentine’s Day, I made a paper chain using the Piggy Bank Parties’ Vintage Valentines Paper which was printed double-sided to show the design on the inside as well. I also added burlap and doilies to it.
For the doilies, I chose a small size and I folded it in half to be able to cut the solid middle out. You will need as many as you desire for the length of your paper chain. It’s easiest to have the doilies ready to place on the chain.
For the burlap links of the chain, you want to place a piece of white card stock horizontally and cut a piece of burlap fabric 1/2 inch larger than the card stock on all sides. The burlap will shift a bit on the paper so the 1/2 inch will allow for a little give and take.
I used a light glue like Elmer’s to glue the burlap onto the white card stock because it’s fragile. Place glue all over one side of the piece of card stock.
Cut the burlap covered card stock into 1 1/2 inch wide strips once it is dry.
You are ready to make your paper chain. Use a stronger glue—like clear tacky glue—on the burlap strips as they are a little heavier with the card stock backing.
Ta~da!
HANDMADE NOTE CARDS
I also made handmade note cards for our Vintage Valentine’s Collaboration by adding lace, doilies and burlap to folded card stock. I attached Mini Vintage Valentines to the cards as well.
