Celebrating 1/2 Birthdays! Have you heard of it? Have you celebrated a half birthday? It’s a great idea for kids and adults alike that have a holiday birthday, separate households, a winter birthday or a busy summer birthday, too. It’s a great way to celebrate a belated birthday and a fabulous way for grandparents to celebrate with the birthday child!

Today I’m sharing some tips on how to celebrate…1/2 styled!

Have a Party:

  • It’s your child’s special day because their Christmas birthday turned into a family holiday vacation and they weren’t able to invite their friends.
  • Get help from party designers like Piggy Bank Parties to create a 1/2 birthday party collection for you!
  • Use a 1/2 Birthday Calculator to keep track of when it is and have the special date to look forward to.
  • Read a book with the little ones on half birthdays like “The Half Birthday Party” by Charlotte Pomerantz.
  • Have your baker decorate a half cake, a half moon cake or add “1/2″ edible or printable toppers to your cake or cupcakes.

Acknowledge the Birthday Time:

  • Host a little celebration with a special treat at 3:01PM on your half birthday. (My kids always remember what time they were born!)
  • Countdown to the Birthday Time and celebrate in style like on New Year’s Eve. Celebrate “A New Year!” This is perfect to do on real birth dates, too.

Enjoy a Birthday Vacation (Halfway through the Year):

  • The summer location you couldn’t go to in the middle of winter is the perfect excuse to get away and celebrate.
  • Celebrate birthdays whenever the budget allows no matter what time of year.
  • Celebrate a Sweet 16 Party on that cruise you have been postponing!

I like this idea and I’m going to start celebrating mine and the kids’ Half Birthdays this year! Acknowledge the date even with a sweet note and I promise you…it will be appreciated!
